As is known to us all, we can't be separated from the environment at all. Land, water and air is what we needed. We need land to build our homes on. We need water for drinking and washing things, and we need air to breathe. We can say that they are part of our life. We dare not imagine what our life would be like if they didn't exist or went wrong.

However, man and the environment have never been on such bad terms as they are now. As society develops, man's transformation of nature has severely polluted its living environment. Deforestation leads to changes in rainfall patterns, causing devastating floods, droughts and sandstorms. The discharge of chemical pollutants endangers our health and the lives of other beings. And mass production has resulted in the shortage of irreplaceable natural resources such as coal and oil. If we take no immediate and effective steps to protect our environment, human beings may be the next species to become extinct.

Man and the environment are closely related. Man relies on the environment for water, food and shelter. A harmonious relationship between man and the environment is essential for human's survival on the earth. For our life, it is urgent to protect the environment. But what can we do? In my opinion, first of all, our government is supposed to make laws on environmental protection. Whoever damages the environment should be punished. Factories mustn't release the waste without being disposed. As individuals, we can also help, such as using environmentally friendly bags in place of plastic ones, taking a bus to work or school instead of driving cars. We should do our best to protect our environment by planting more trees, taking care of wildlife, reducing industrial wastes, using renewable energy, and imposing heavy fines on environmentally-unfriendly activities, so as to preserve the environment for future generations.
