Giving privileges to high-educated people is not proper
There is a widespread concern over the issue since Kong Weike says that high-educated people should be entitled to have a third child. Some believe that high-educated people are entitled to have a third child will improve the population’s quality, while others regard this proposal unfair. As far as I am concerned, it is unreasonable and unfair to entitle the high-educated people to have a third child.
Firstly, the proposal is incompatible with the idea of fairness of our society. All people are supposed to have the equal reproductive rights, regardless of the education level. Giving the privilege to the high-educated people shows the discrimination against the low-educated people and other vulnerable groups. Social justice is the cornerstone of the state. Therefore, we should uphold the principle of fairness and equality, and stand firmly against giving privileges to some people. Secondly, the proposal is irrational for lack of scientific basis. The meaning of high education is different from the meaning of high quality. Moreover, there is no scientific evidence which can proof that the children of the high-education people will have high qualities. The population’s quality is related to the biological inheritance, but more importantly, it largely depends on the degree of the civilization of a country. The prosperous economic development, the established public welfare system, the advanced education facilities and the harmonious trend will provide a favorable environment for children to become high-quality grow-ups. Therefore, giving a privilege to high-educated people will not improve the population’s quality effectively.
In conclusion, I don’t agree with the idea to entitle the high-educated people to have a third child. It not only breaks the principle of social fairness and equality, but also lacks the scientific basis. To improve the national population’s quality, the most important thing is to provide a favorable environment for children to develop and improve themselves.
