【正确答案】Topic: Regional Poverty
Conversation
A: In my opinion, the major cause for regional poverty is lack of natural resources.
B: I agree with you. Natural resources are the basic building blocks of a country. They are important in the development of a country.
A: Yes. Firstly, we have agriculture. Food grown through farming is important for development, as without food, the basic necessity to survival, people will be malnourished and unable to work.
B: And the forests are able to provide us with the materials for construction, furniture and paper, important resources used in our daily life. Mineral resources such as diamonds, coal, fossil fuels etc. are used to generate power, as well as selling them to other parts of the world.
A: Renewable resources such as wind, solar, water are able to provide us with limitless energy, not forgetting the most basic form of survival and civilization (water). If a city is abundant in natural resources, it is bound to be rich.
B: Besides natural resources, I think disorganization of the economy is also responsible for regional poverty.
A: Yes, I believe so. The organization of resources, infrastructure, policies and business systems is important in developing the economy of a country. An organization is the formation of an administering system with certain capability to utilize resources.
B: And by efficient organization, the infrastructure can optimize and secure. Without organization, many resources including natural or human will be wasted.
A: Another important cause for region poverty should be geographical position. We can see all those coastal cities are richer than those inland ones.
B: I don't think so. Poor leadership should be one important cause for regional poverty. People or officials work in the same direction, with the same goals, with the same idea of how to solve problems as a group.
A: That sounds reasonable.
A&B: It's the end of the conversation.
