Dear Sir,
I am a college student. I am writing to express my concern over the rapidly growing number of motorcycles in our city. There is no denying that motorcycles can help people become more mobile and the increased demand of motorcycles can boost the motorcycle and motorcycle-related industries. However, motorcycles can cause serious problems.
One of them is traffic accidents. A large proportion of traffic accidents involve motorcyclists who either ride too fast or try to get the better of cars in the rush hour. Another is air pollution. Motorcycles emit a lot of waste gases, which are not only harmful but also annoying when you are riding or walking behind. Not less harmful and annoying is the noise made by motorcycles, especially when they are starting or speeding up. The noise is unbearable both to your ears and to your nerves.
All in all, motorcycles do more harm than good to people. So I think the Municipal Government should take measures to put the increase of motorcycles under strict control. At the same time, it should improve the public transport system to attract more people. Otherwise, in the near future, our city will become a place where nobody want to live.
Sincerely yours,
Wang Lin
