As it portrays in the picture, two men stand on the opposite side of a perspective-like stuff, believing in what they see, the man on the life side points to the stuff and insists that there are “Four” battens while the other reject him by saying “No Three”. On the picture, the maxim by Marcus Aurelius says: “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact.Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” There is no denying that everything has one more face, we should never be too idealist but be rational and critical-thinking.

It is true that what we see is not all real. We indeed, in many occasions, can be cheated by simply what we hear through our ears and what we see through our eyes. Since everything has two sides, we should dialectically treat it. On the one hand, we should learn to conversion thinks when we got a mental block. No man is omniscience. We should be modest and have the courage to admit our insufficiency, especially when we disagree with someone on a certain question.On the other hand, it is important to be open and practical and actively absorb others‟ opinion, since this is a world of diversity, only when we can accept differences and willing to change ourselves can we follow the time and better ourselves. When addressing a conflict or challenge where people are involved, we should be sure to reserve our opinion until we have both sides of the story.

Unquestionably, we should transform our thinking mode, be open, rational, critical and comprehensive and cultivate in ourselves an outlook of the whole picture. Seeing is not believing, but disbelieving and thinking. It is an aphorism that all of us should engrave on our mind: Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
