【答案解析】The Law on the Protection of
Minors
Physical punishment on children still
widely exists in our society. The picture describes a common scene in China that
a teacher is rudely criticizing a pupil for his bad score in an exam. The
miserable boy stands there helplessly and was scared with the paper in his hand;
maybe he is worrying about an even more severe punishment awaiting him by his
parents when he gets home.
The reasons for such scenes are not
difficult to explore. Firstly, parents and teachers, tending to regard kids as
their property, hold the view that they have the authority to do anything to the
children in the name of being good to them. Secondly, scores are overemphasized
in education, and eventually become the only standard to justify a
child.
Luckily, kids have the Law on the Protection of Minors
now. A "Stop!" shouts out at the top right comer of the picture, indicating the
implementation of the Law. The Law reminds the adults that kids have human
rights too, deserving respect, understanding and help as well. At the same time,
we must modify the education concept that education is to help develop the
child's potentials, but not merely improve their scores. In a word, kids
will develop better and healthier with encouragement and care than with
punishment during their growing up.
