EXAMINER: Alright. Now in this second part I'm going to give you a topic and I'd like you to talk about it for one to two minutes. Before you talk you'll have a minute to think about what you are going to say. Do you understand?
CANDIDATE: Yes.
EXAMINER: OK, so here's some paper and a pencil for making notes.
CANDIDATE: Thank you very much.
EXAMINER: And here's your topic. I'd like you to describe a minor disagreement you once had with someone.
EXAMINER: Alright now.
CANDIDATE: Yep.
EXAMINER: Remember you have one to two minutes for this, so don't worry if I stop you. I'll tell you when the time is up. Can you start speaking now please.
CANDIDATE: OK. Well I'd like to talk about ... um something that happened very recently in my life, which is that I took a holiday with a very close friend and it was a cycling holiday. And during the planning stage me and my friend were ... we had a ... let's say a minor disagreement about how much we'd actually be able to cover per day. I was... I come from a very flat country and I come from the flattest part of it, so I've barely even seen a hill and he actually grew up in the Swiss Alps. And so he was convinced that we could easily cover 80km a day uphill on our folding city bikes. And after reading some websites and asking a few people that had taken similar trips, I thought that the maximum we'd be able to manage would be about 50km a day. So during the planning stage we kept coming back to this particular point and we couldn't really make an agreement on how much to plan. So in the end what we decided to do was try and take an average and we tried to do 65km a day in the planning. Unfortunately, that didn't really work out very well because I couldn't do 65km per day. In fact, I could only do barely 40. So we were constantly behind schedule and we had to keep riding into the middle of the night and we could barely see what was going on the road. But the actual process of the argument was quite fun because we're good friends and even though we had a disagreement, we kept our sense of humour. And in the end, we did come to a pretty good agreement about it.
EXAMINER: Thank you. Do you often get into disagreements with people?
CANDIDATE: I try my best not to. But if it's necessary to disagree, then that's what I'll have to do sometimes.
