Are Security Cameras an Invasion of Privacy?
In recent years, in order to make our life safer, many places have installed a lot of security cameras to protect both business and the general public. Someone may ask whether these security cameras have gone too far and become a kind of invasion of privacy, which means people are constantly under surveillance. As far as I am concerned, I cannot agree with the idea that security cameras are becoming the invasion of privacy.
Firstly, security cameras in public places could guarantee the safety of people, to some extent. Everybody needs to be responsible for their behaviors, because what we do may influence others’ safety. Under such circumstances, security cameras may serve as the deterrence for potential criminals. When we arrive at places with security cameras, we should realize that we are in public, so we must be responsible for our behaviors and avoid any harm towards others.
Secondly, security cameras are useful when dealing with crimes in daily life. Obviously, it is easy for police to keep track of criminal activities. For example, when some evildoers run away from scene of crime, security cameras will track their position, making the arrestment more efficient. In this way, there is no doubt that security cameras are useful in making people safer.
To sum up, security cameras are not an invasion of privacy. And it is necessary to install some security cameras in public places in order to protect the safety of people. After all, the security of people is of the top priority for a better life.
