In June, 1876, Bell exhibited a telephone prototype in Philadelphia, where it attracted the attention of American people. However, the public did not accept this new product immediately and some citizens questioned the function of the novel means of communication.
Although the public was so struck by this fantastic talking machine, some users felt uncomfortable to talk to somebody without seeing each other.
