I had never been away from home before going to college. Just before I left, my parents told me to learn to be independent so that I could deal with the possibly—encountered problems when they were not with me. They repeatedly emphasized the importance of self—reliance but I didn"t take it seriously.
On the first weekend after entering college, I decided to wash my clothes. Entering washing— room, I was suddenly at a loss. I had never washed clothes, so I didn"t know where to start, even forgot to use washing powder. Being busy for a while, I couldn"t make it. I was so tired and embarrassed that I really want to give up. However, I knew I must depend on myself at that time.
Only when I was faced with difficulties and no one could do me a favor did I realize the importance of self—reliance. For the youth, it"s rather significant to learn to solve problems and overcome difficulties independently in their future career.
