In modern society, parenting courses are designed to help parents learn how to bring up their children in a better way. Some people hold an idea that such a course is extremely useful, while I think it is of very little use.

In the first place, attending a parenting course is valuable to parents only in theory, but not in practice. Such a course usually tells the parents some universal principles about what they should do and what they are supposed to avoid doing. However, each child is a unique case. Thus parents have to deal with the problems in practical. Additionally, taking a parenting course is sometimes costly in time and money. As we all know, the more time parents share with their children, the better upbringing the children may have. Parents can use the money paid for the courses to buy some books for children. Therefore, the time and money which they spend on the parenting courses can be used to do many meaning activities with their children.

In my view, the parents take a parenting course due to laziness or a lack of confidence. They do not believe in themselves but rather in books and what others tell them. A parenting course is not beneficial, but detrimental to parents when upbringing their children.
