I’d like to talk about my grandfather who is a very caring and kind person. We have lived together for many years. My grandfather was a middle school teacher in his hometown. He managed to send all of his to school though his salary was very low. He thought education is very important through a person’s life. I was brought up at my grandfather’s home. He taught me a lot of knowledge and he was very kind and nice to me. I never forget the efforts he made to help me read. He was a patient person and taught me as much as he could. He spent much time helping me and teaching me the right way to read. At last, the way worked. I learned to read quickly. When I was to be in the middle school, I left grandfather’s home and I missed him very much and the lessons I learnt from my grandfather always kept in mind.

Modern people are always busy with their work and the speed of their life is very fast. I guess some modern people are happy of getting old, because they can free from their work and they can also get retirement pension from the government. So they can enjoy their life better. Old people play an important role in families. Well, there are a lot of difference between the younger and older generations in China .Since many older generations have experienced difficult circumstances or a tough life. So they often think that young people today have no idea about thrifty. We just buy a lot of things and throw them away without further consideration. Beside, some young people are not polite to the old. I often hear my father complaining that there are some youngsters who don’t treat the elderly with respect. The elderly value traditional etiquette very much. But they are slower to accept new ideas. While the younger generation is quick to adopt new things like the Internet.

Given the two generations lived in the totally different environment ,I bet their living habits are different from us in many aspects. I am not sure what older people think of us. I guess that they might think we are a bit spoiled and can’t endure hardships. Since our lives are easier and we have many opportunities to enjoy a lot of entertainment. I’ve heard some of them complain that since the one-child policy we are a bit too spoiled. They often complain that we never work hard and we don’t show as much respect to older people as they did when they were young.
