Phonetics and phonology are two branches of linguistic that deal with primarily with the structure of human language sounds. Without them we will live as deaf or dumb.

Phonetics is about the production of sounds, including the production of sounds, that is, how speech sounds are really made, transmitted and received, the description and classification of speech sounds. The study of sounds is divided into three main areas: articulatory phonetics, acoustic phonetics and perceptual phonetics. Phonology studies the rules governing the structure distribution and sequencing of speech sounds and the shape of syllables. It deals with the sound system of a language by treating phoneme as the point of departure.

Phonetics is the study of speech sounds that the human voice is capable of creating whereas phonology is the study of a subset of those sounds that constitute language and meaning. The first focuses on chaos while the second focused on order.
