'Your teenage years are the best years of your life!" Adults often say this, but we teenagers don't understand. Our lives are hard, we think. We spend our time studying, have to listen to our parents, and can't drive, make money or do what we want. Many of us can't wait to get older.
But what is the adult's point of view? Teenagers don't have to worry about making money because their parents look after them, and they don't have to make difficult decisions. They only need to study.
It confuses us that our parents wish they were teenagers, but perhaps it should disturb
us. We wish we were older; they wish they were younger. Is anyone ever happy?
Our mistake (and theirs) is wishing we were any age but what we are. It is a mistake to wait for the future rather than improving our lives now. We should make the best of all our years, Even if certain years are the best of our lives, it will be too late to enjoy them by the time we realize that.
