单选题 Questions 28—30 are based on the following monologue. You now have 15 seconds to read questions 28—30.
单选题 What does "bounce back" mean in the first paragraph?
【正确答案】 B
【答案解析】[听力原文]28-30
As we continue to grow and age, our body systems continue to change. At a certain point, our body systems will begin to weaken. Strength may become weaker. It may become more difficult to see and hear. The slow change of aging causes our bodies to lose some of their abilities to bounce back from disease and injury. In order to live longer, we have always tried to slow or stop this change that leads us toward the end of our lives.
Many factors decide health. A good diet plays an important role. The amount and type of exercise we get is another factor. Living condition is yet another. But scientists studying the aging problem want to know: why do people grow old? They hope that by studying aging, medical science may be able to increase lifespans.
There is nothing to be afraid of as old age comes. Many consider the later part of life to be the best time for living. Physical activity may decrease, but often you get a better understanding of yourself and the world.
What we consider old now may only be middle-aged someday soon. Who knows, with so many advances in medical science happening so quickly, lifetimes may one day be measured in centuries rather than in years!
