What's the Critical Period Hypothesis of language acquisition? Please comment on it.
Proposed by Lenneberg (1967), Critical Period Hypothesis holds that a child can naturally acquire a language from the age of two to twelve. The age effect does play an important role in language acquisition. But language acquisition or learning is affected by a great many factors such as motivation, interest, language atmosphere, etc.So this hypothesis is partially sensible.
