Some university students think it more important to choose to study subjects that will prepare them better for their job or career in the future. Others believe that they should be allowed to study whatever they like.

With the rapid development of educational economy, more and more students decide to go to colleges or vocational schools instead of finding a job directly. Recently, a prevalent statement we often hear among the students is that it is more important to choose to study subjects that will prepare them better for their job or career in the future. However, a considerable number of opponents propose that studying a subject that interests you is more important than the one preparing you for a better career. As far as I am concerned, the latter view seems align more with my perspective. Two reasons would suffice here to support my point of view.
First and foremost, despite the fact that some certain objects do seem pretty promising, it could not guarantee you without being destroyed by the failure in the future, that is because people are always willing to do what they are interested in, which may lead to more possibilities to succeed. For instance, like the speech delivered by Steve Jobs in Stanford, finding the career you truly love is the only way to keep passion. Although he was fired by Apple in his early thirty, he still loved what he did, and set up other two famous companies and finally got back to Apple. His persistence resulting from his interests contributed to the huge success in his life and completely changes the industry of cell phone. In contrast, if Steve chose a subject with no interests, he may be easily beaten down by the failure after graduation, and even changed the job, and we may probably have no chance to use iPhone. Thus, with the motivation of interest, people are more undefeatable and have more chance to succeed.
Moreover, we could not ignore the connection between the bright warm future and the undergoing study we choose according to our interests. Specifically, people have more patience to persist in the profession that they desire. By doing so, they can do better in the profession comparing to the one bores them although it may seem with potentials. To illustrate, we can only connect the dots when we look backward, like Steve. If he had never dropped out of his major, he would never drop in on that calligraphy class and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography as they do. Hence, interests are the best teacher who may somehow help us in the future.
Consequently, I want to reiterate that choosing to study a subject that interests you is more important than the one preparing you for a better career.
