My Views on Online Education
At present, being online is, to some degree, part of our daily life. We surf on the Internet, searching for information and communicating with friends. Recently another online activity has become very “in” . That is online education. Objectively speaking, this new form of education cuts both ways.
The advantages of online education are as follows. Firstly, online education is a flexible way of learning. Unlike full-time education, online learning does not confine learners to a particular place. Learners don’ t have to bother to travel to the place where the lessons are given. They can listen to the lectures on their computer or just on their cell phone. What’ s more, learners can learn the online courses whenever it is convenient to them. On-the-job learners can listen to the courses after they knock off in a day or on weekends. If they feel tired in the middle of a course, they can stop to have a rest for a while and continue to listen later. The second advantage of online education is that learners can listen to the online lectures for many times, which is good for their learning. If they are baffled by some difficult knowledge which has been elaborated on in online courses, they can listen to the courses again and listen to the teachers’ analysis. In this way, their problems can be solved. Learners can also listen again and again to consolidate their understanding of the knowledge they have been learning. Thirdly, various online courses covering a variety of disciplines are available on the Internet. People can choose whatever they are interested in.
Online education also has its disadvantages. First of all, learners and teachers can’ t have effective and timely interaction in online lessons. When what the teacher is lecturing on confuses the learners, the learners are unable to ask the teacher directly. So the question is left to learners themselves and they are unable to solve it quickly. They may have to turn to their real teachers for help. Therefore, some argue that online education is not as effective as real classroom teaching. Secondly, online education is lacking in effective supervision of learners. In school, teachers keep a close eye on students in classes and students behave themselves in classes. However, online teachers can’ t. Some learners may waste time and procrastinate to listen to the lectures.
All in all, online education has its advantages and disadvantages. We should make the best of its advantages to complement tradition means of learning.
作文要求写对在线教育的看法。作者很客观地指出它有利有弊,在第二段中提出了在线教育的三个优点,在第三段中提出了它的两个弊端。最后指出,应充分利用在线教育的优点,使它成为传统学习方式的有利补充。
