● Read this part of a letter from Judy Matthews applying for a job.
With reference to your advertisement in The Financial Times, I am writing to apply for the post of chief accountant.
I am moving to your country next month with my husband. As you will see from the enclosed CV, I have had a lot of experience in management accounting and I feel that I can be an asset to your company.
If I am selected for interview, please could you give me information about how to reach your offices by public transport?
● Write a letter to Mrs. Matthews:
● acknowledging her letter,
● offering her a date and time for an interview,
● requesting the names and addresses of two referees,
● telling her the best way to reach you by public transport.
● Write 60-80 words on your Answer Sheet.
● Do not include any postal addresses.
Dear Mrs. Matthews,
Thank you very much for writing to apply for the advertised post, and welcome to our country.
We have decided to invite you to attend an interview after reviewing your resume. The appointed date is 23 June, and the interview schedule will be 8:30 am, so we would like you to arrive before 9 am.
The location of our company is on the 22nd floor of the World Trade Center. You can take the No.13 bus to come to our office. However, we recommend you take the subway, if you do not want to be trapped in the traffic jam.
By the way, you are required to have two referees’ names and addresses. When coming for the interview, you can bring them with you.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Jane Spencer
