Should People Be Content with What They Have?
People should not be content with what they have. The reasons are simple. First of all, it goes against human nature to make do with what one has had. Moreover, if our ancestors had been content with what they had, the world would not have developed to such an advanced degree. Ambition can be seen as a dynamical power, so long as it is achieved in a proper way.
The desire to possess things which are impotant but have not yet been acquired is inherent in human nature. For example, a student may hope to have a book written by his or her favorite author; an employee may want a more important position in the company; and a scientist may desire to master the most advanced technology in the world. All of these aspirations are natural and reasonable.
The world we live in progresses because human beings are always in pursuit of new things and better living conditions. Thanks to the human"s desires, our society has become much richer and our life has changed so much compared with what it was years ago. The advancement of society depends upon our quest for a better future.
Although ambition in its derogatory sense should be abandoned, we are not supposed to give up all ambitions which could be achieved in proper ways. On the whole, ambition is necessary during social and personal development because it is the stimulation and motivation that help people to strive for the goal.
All in all, people should not be content with what they have. Instead, it is significant for us to realize our ambitions in fair and equitable ways. People must always remember that ambition is a good thing as long as it does not harm others.
