问答题There are many papercut schools in China, each with its own unique characteristics. In northwest China, papercuts are simple yet bold. Along coastal areas papercuts tend to be more exquisite and fine.
Weixian
County papercuts are dyed and therefore more colorful. Dyed papercuts, always abundant during Spring Festival, feature themes of harvesting, animal raising, happiness, and longevity.
Miao
papercuts from Guizhou Province feature embroidery(刺绣) patterns depicting fairy tales and local customs.
Papercut designs are often derived from figures found on ancient pottery (陶器) and rock paintings. Papercuts often resemble frogs, snakes, fish, birds, dragons, and gods of the ancients. Papercuts tend to be very symbolic. Papercut tigers implicate longevity in Chinese culture. Trees and deer heads symbolize continuity(恒久). To express wishes for children, papercuts are made to resemble fish, lotus flowers(荷花), gourds(葫芦), dragons, and phoenixes(凤凰).
Papercuts are most popular in northern China, where they are often put on windows, doors, ceilings, and in bridal chambers. Papercuts were originally considered a woman"s art. In many Chinese rural villages, girls have to learn papercutting at a young age. Some say that a girl"s papercutting ability is a yardstick for her intelligence. In daily life, the girls express their sentiments and imaginations through their papercuts.

问答题The writer builds with words, and no builder uses a raw material more slippery and elusive and treacherous. A writer's work is a constant struggle to get the right word in the right place, to find that particular word that will convey his meaning exactly, that will persuade the reader or soothe him or startle or amuse him. He never succeeds altogether—sometimes he feels that he scarcely succeeds at all—but such successes as he has are what make the thing worth doing. Some words are what we call "colorful". By this we mean that they are calculated to produce a picture or induce an emotion. They are dressy instead of plain, specific instead of general, loud instead of soft. However it should not be supposed that the fancy word is always better. Often it is as well to write "Her heart beat" or "It was hot" in place of "Her heart pounded" or "It was blistering" if that is all it did or all it was. Ages differ in how they like their prose. The nineteenth century liked it rich and smoky. The twentieth has usually preferred it lean and cool. The twentieth century writer is wary of sounding feverish. He tends to pitch it low, to understate it, to throw it away. He knows that if he gets too colorful, the audience is likely to giggle.

问答题Instead of trying to reduce the discontent felt, try to raise the level or quality of the discontent. Perhaps the most that can be hoped for is to have high-order discontent in today's society, discontent about things that really matter. 81) Rather than evaluating programs in terms of how happy they make people, how satisfied those people become, programs must be evaluated in terms of the quality of the discontent they engender. For example, if a consultant wants to assess whether or not an organization is healthy, he doesn't ask, "Is there an absence of complaints?" but rather, "What kinds of complaints are there?"82) Instead of trying to make gradual changes in small increments, make big changes. After all big changes are relatively easier to make than are small ones. Some people assume that the way to bring about improvement is to make the change small enough so that nobody will notice it. This approach has never worked, and one can't help but wonder why such thinking continues. Everyone knows how to resist small changes; they do it all the time. If, however, the change is big enough, resistance can't be mobilized against it, 83) Management can make a sweeping organizational change, but just let a manager try to change someone's desk from here to there, and see the great difficulty he encounters. All change is resisted, so the question is how can the changes be made big enough so that they have a chance of succeeding?Buckminster Fuller has said that instead of reforms society needs new forms, e. g. in order to reduce traffic accidents, improve automobiles and highways instead of trying to improve drivers. The same concept should be applied to human relations. There is a need to think in terms of social architecture, and to provide arrangements among people that evoke what they really want to see in themselves. 84) Mankind takes great pains with physical architecture, and is beginning to concern itself with the design of systems in which the human being is a component. But most of these designs are only for safety, efficiency, or productivity. System designs are not made to affect those aspects of life people care most about such as family life, romance, and esthetic experiences. 85) Social technology as well as physical technology need to be applied in making human arrangements that will transcend anything mankind has yet experienced. People need not be victimized by their environments; they can be fulfilled by them.

In most public schools today, teachers are simply rated "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory," and evaluations consist of having the principal observe a class for a few minutes a couple of times each year.
Many districts and states are trying to move toward better personnel systems for evaluation and improvement. Unfortunately, some education advocates in New York, Los Angeles and other cities are claiming that a good personnel system can be based on ranking teachers according to their "value-added rating"—a measurement of their impact on students" test scores—and publicizing the names and rankings online and in the media.
I am a strong supporter of measuring teachers" effectiveness, and my foundation works with many schools to help make sure that such evaluations improve the overall quality of teaching. But publicly ranking teachers by name will not help them get better at their jobs or improve student learning. On the contrary, it will make it a lot harder to implement teacher evaluation systems that work.
