英译汉 It's almost impossible to go through life without experiencing some kind of failure. People who do so probably live so cautiously that they go nowhere. Put simply, they're not really living at all. But, the wonderful thing about failure is that it's entirely up to us to decide how to look at it. We can choose to see failure as 'the end of the world', or as proof of just how inadequate we are. Or, we can look at failure as the incredible learning experience that it often is. Every time we fail at something, we can choose to look for the lesson we're meant to learn. These lessons are very important; they're how we grow, and how we keep from making that same mistake again. Failures stop us only if we let them. Failure can also teach us things about ourselves that we would never have learned otherwise. For instance, failure can help you discover how strong a person you are. Failing at something can help you discover your truest friends, or help you find unexpected motivation to succeed.

英译汉 Directions: There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the center. Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly (势不可挡地) strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and the pity for the suffering of mankind. I have sought love, first, because it brings happiness and enjoyment—so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of life for a few hours of this joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieves loneliness—the terrible loneliness. I have sought it, finally, because in the world of love I have seen the version of the heaven that poets have imagined. This is what I sought, and though it might seem too good for human life, this is what—at last—I have found. With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of men. I have wished to know everything about the nature. Love and knowledge led upward toward the heaven. But pity always brought me back to earth. Children in famine (饥荒), helpless old people and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery (讥讽) of what human life should be. I long to destroy the evil, but I can’t and I too suffer. This has been my life. And I have found it worth living, and would gladly live it again if the chance were offered to me. 1.Which of the following is essential in the author’s life? ( ) A、Love. B、Knowledge. C、Sympathy. D、All of the above. 2.Which of the following is NOT the reason that the author seeks love? ( ) A、Love needs sacrifice. B、Love makes the world beautiful. C、Love can relieve loneliness. D、Love brings happiness and enjoyment. 3.Whom does the author feel sympathy for? ( ) A、The sick people. B、The people out of work. C、All the people who are suffering in the world. D、All the people who are relevant to him. 4.Why does the author say “I too suffer”? ( ) A、Because he can’t have enough money to help others. B、Because he can’t destroy all the evils that brings pain to people. C、Because he can’t obtain the love from others while he loves people so much. D、Because he can’t find the cause of evils. 5.Which of the following can be used as the title of this article? ( ) A、To Destroy All the Evils. B、What I Have Lived for. C、Love Conquers All. D、The Beautiful Life.
