The behavior patterns of juveniles are influenced in part by what goes on in the environment in which they live. Every stage of development has transitions. Family members, friends, and peers all influence these times of transition for the juvenile. It is sometimes accompanied by a desire for material things, fashion, peer pressure, cash and more. At times, the demands of wants and needs are intensified by a society that consists of high mobility, social change, and is materialistic. Also, social changes can create anxiety and disillusionment for adolescents and thus they commit delinquent acts. Obviously, human beings tend to develop in different stages until they become adults. One of these stages is the adolescent stage. When humans are in the adolescent stage, they are considered juveniles. When a juvenile does something wrong, contrary to the laws or norms of the society, such as acts of vandalism, theft, drug related activity, arson or other anti-social behavior, he/she is then considered a juvenile delinquent. On the other hand, some scientists believe some are born to be criminals. Some teenagers may suffer from psychopathy—a disorder suffered by many (but not all) violent criminals—is characterized by an inability to "empathise". The researchers, based at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, said the differences in psychopaths' brains mark them out even from other violent criminals with anti-social personality disorders (ASPD), and from healthy non-offenders. Psychopaths have physically different brains from "normal" people—and may be born to kill. The new finding may mean that there is simply no point treating psychopaths with current "behavioural" treatments.

问答题1. Nowadays young people tend to phone more often than write to each other. Will phones kill letter writing? The following are the supporters' and opponents' opinions. Read carefully the opinions from both sides and write your response in about 200 words, in which you should first summarize briefly the opinions from both sides and give your view on the issue. Marks will be awarded for content relevance, content sufficiency, organization and language quality. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks. YES NO Phones are not subjected to time and geographical constraints. With phones, people can get in touch with others wherever and whenever they want. Phone is more convenient for people having connec- tions with each other. If one has something urgent to tell others, phone is necessary, which has the feature of immediacy. It takes a few days to write and deliver a letter to the right person. We can communicate with others in the casual way of chatting on the phone, which seems to be friend- lier. What's more important, we can hear others' voice on the phone, which is good for communica- tion. Letter writing as our traditional way of communi- cation can not be replaced. It is a kind of Chi- nese culture since ancient China. In writing a letter, people have time to consider carefully what to write about and how to express themselves. Letters contain abundant emotions in it. Also the content of the letters can be re- viewed whenever we want in order to reminisce about the past. Nowadays people are not focusing on the func- tion of the letter but its aesthetic value which has been woven into culture. Therefore, this tradi- tion will not become extinct in case the culture continues.

问答题5. Will culture be ruined if it is used to earn tourism revenue? This has been intensely discussed for years. The following are the proponents' and opponents' opinions. Read carefully the opinions from both sides and write your response in about 200 words, in which you should first summarize briefly the opinions from both sides and then give your view on the issue. Marks will be awarded for content relevance, content sufficiency, organization and language quality. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks. YES NO Food, festivals, costumes and other noticeable ele- ments of a culture are highlighted to entertain tourists. Tourists show no respect to the locals and may cause damage to the unique nature of a culture. Cultural commercialization has made the sacred el- ements of a culture commonplace and tourists are en- couraged to attach little importance to a unique tradi- tion, which cannot be found elsewhere. Too much tourism may harm the quality of the tradition and heritage of a place. Due to the unplanned and mis- managed growth of cultural tourism, an ever-booming place might gradually become the victim of its own suc- cess. By and by,the unique culture of that place may lose its attractiveness, which can eventually lead to decline and fall of its cultural identity. Providing economic incentives for cultural preservation is unarguably one of the main con- tributions of tourism. To many tourists, culture and history are their first consideration when choosing a destination. Their mindset has been adopted by many tourism sites and their money has been subsequently used on cultural pro- tection, including the maintenance of key his- torical sites. Tourism can make an indigenous culture known to the world and rally support worldwide to protect it. Needless to say, tourism adds value to a scenic spot by serving as a driving force in boosting that place's economy.
