单选题It is reported that over 300 million people in China are suffering from nearsightedness(近视). As more children have got eye trouble, their parents hope to cure the disease by medicine, equipment or by correcting the way children read and sit. But in fact the care given to one"s eyes should start with the exercise on one" s feet. Three methods on how to protect eyes are as follows:
Firstly, don"t fasten your shoes too tightly. Try wearing loose socks or walking barefooted at home. When traveling, try wearing cloth shoes so as to make blood circulation (循环) easier.
Secondly, walking on tiptoes will help improve one"s eyesight, and prevent nearsightedness. Figures show that few ballet (芭蕾舞) performers are nearsighted.
Thirdly, rope skipping also does good to one"s eyesight. When skipping the rope, one has to react quickly, which excites the brain as well as the eyes. It will also help make one grow taller.
Besides foot exercises, it is good to pull one"s ears. Pulling the ears 20 times is found to be an effective way to reduce the pressure on one"s eyes soon.

单选题 Chess must be one of the oldest games in the world. An Arab
traveler in the year 900 wrote that it was played "long, long ago". Chess was
probably invented (发明) in India, and it has been played everywhere from Japan to
Europe since 1400. The name "chess" is interesting. When one player is attacking
the other's king, he says, in English, "check". When the king has been caught
and cannot move anywhere, he says "checkmate". These words come from Persian
words "Shah mat", which means "the king is dead". That is when the game is over,
and one player has won. Such an old game changes very slowly.
The rules have not always been the same as they are now. For example, at one
time the queen could only move one square at a time. Now she is the strongest
piece on the board. It would be interesting to know why this has happened Chess
takes time and thought, but it is a game for all kinds of people. You don't have
to be winner in order to enjoy it. It is not always played by two people sitting
at the same table. The first time the Americans beat the Russians was in a match
played by radio. Some chess masters are able to play many people at the same
time. One man played 400 games! It is said that some people play chess by post.
This must make chess the slowest game in the world.

单选题Carefree, happy-go-lucky, and running wild are just some of the familiar phrases that come to mind when we think about childhood. Most of us have a lovely picture of what life is like for children. What could children possibly have to worry about? In the early l980's, many medical experts believed that children were unable to experience depression (忧郁). But the fact is that children do have plenty of cares. At least 2% of children under 12 struggle with depression and by teenage years this has risen to 5% or 1 in 20. That's at least one depressed child in every classroom. Depression, whether in grown-ups or children, is poorly understood. Some children are more at risk, such as those who are ill or who come from a broken family. But there are also many simpler worries, such as exam fears. It's not always easy to notice depression in children, partly because they are not so able as adults to express their feelings and partly because they are more likely to act out their feelings with bodily actions. So while some children are clearly sad, quiet, and tearful, others may become troublesome, hurting or fighting with others. If you are worried about your child, you should talk to your doctor and to your children's friends, too, to try to learn about their feelings. Medicine may be used, although less often than they are in grown-ups. But it's very important that efforts are also made to help children understand why they became depressed, how they can deal with the problems in their life, and how they can form a more positive (正面的) opinion of their world. Support within the family can help problem solving (解决).
