单选题October 25 The Informant Page 10 Hotel Giant Halts Jumeirah Project DUBAI - France's largest hospitality chain, Arnaud Hotels, has decided to postpone the construction of a one-billion-dollar hotel complex in Palm Jumeirah due to recent global economic problems. "The decision was made in an effort to secure the company's funds since the crisis has been adversely affecting Dubai's tourism industry," Arnaud Hotels spokesperson Sebastian Lefebvre said. Tourism in the Arab city has suffered heavy losses after several companies slashed jobs and real estate prices tumbled. Lefebvre said Arnaud Hotels will resume the construction once Dubai's economic condition becomes stable. The spokesman, however, dismissed rumors about the suspension of ongoing expansion projects in London, Rome, and Madrid.

单选题Questions 191-195 refer to the following report and fax. October 1 Mr. Nicholas Poulos President Poulos Manufacturing Company 8 Ypsilan Street, GR-10675, Kolonaki, Athens, Greece Dear Mr. Poulos, Here are the sales figures that you asked for. Product: S-7 Engine (in thousands of units) Month Finland Sweden Norway Germany January 15 10 15 17 February 14 11 14 15 March 15 13 16 16 April 16 12 17 17 May 14 10 14 15 June 15 12 14 17 July 15 12 14 17 August 16 10 17 14 September 17 12 18 15 October 16 11 15 14 November 17 12 14 14 December 16 13 17 15 The reason that the sales figures for Sweden are lower than those for Finland, Norway and Germany is our company has launched extensive advertising campaigns in Finland, Norway and Germany, but not in Sweden. Next year we will launch an extensive advertising campaign in Sweden. However, the situation is Sweden is more complicated than the situations of the aforementioned countries because of extremely strict advertising regulations in that country. To be honest, I don't think we should expect the same kind of success in Sweden that we've seen in the other countries. Cordially, Patricia Porter Patricia Porter, Sales Manager FAX TRANSMISSION TO: Patricia Porter FROM: Nicholas Poulos DATE: October 11 RE: Sales Figures I understand your concern about the situation in Sweden. Needless to say, I'm disappointed with the sales figures in Sweden. One marketing researcher at our company has tried to persuade me to stop conducting business in Sweden because of the difficulties created by strict advertising regulations. While I admit that there are problems, I don't agree that they cannot be solved. I've reviewed various new proposals for increasing sales in Sweden, and feel that we should do a feasibility study before adopting them.
