填空题Have a Successful InterviewThe aim of a job interview is to establish whether you are likely to do well in a particular job in a specific organization. This is not only a matter of having the necessary technical knowledge and skills. You must also have the motivation, the ability to adapt to new ways of working and to a new work environment, and the personality to do the job and fit into a new team. The ability to cope with stress and get on with people is essential. These include getting on with people, oral and written communication, team working, problem solving and good time management. Most people think that interviewers know what they are looking for and will recognise it when they see it. (8) . This applies to recruiters as much as anyone else. In fact, a former head of selection at one big firm used to say that "some interviewers are so poor that they would do better to rely on chance."In companies which recognise this, various methods are used to try to find the right person. (9) . Research has shown that this approach is more reliable than the ordinary job interview, though not as effective as using personality tests or assessment centres. In a structured interview the interviewer groups the qualities listed in the job specification under various headings. There are two well-established structures for this: the National Institute of Industrial Psychology's Seven-Point Plan and the Five-Fold Grading System. Both these systems cover factors such as physical appearance, qualifications, general intelligence, motivation and previous experience. (10) .However, they should not give equal weight to each one. Some factors are more important in one job than an other. For example, physical appearance and manner will be more important in a sales position than in a re searcher who works behind the scenes. It is also a fact that the impact the candidate makes in the first three or four minutes of an interview is of major importance. (11) . A decision not to hire is often made during those first few minutes. It is not always possible to tell whether structured interview techniques are being used if interviewers ask questions systematically, using some kind of checklist, and occasionally make a brief note, they probably are. On the other hand, if the interviewer goes through your application form to confirm what you have al ready said, or asks irrelevant questions, or jumps from one topic to another, the interview is unlikely to be structured. Before you attend any interview, look again at the job description and the personal specification. (12) . If you already have a mental list of the key points that you need to mention, you are unlikely to waste time giving irrelevant information or to omit important points in your favour.A Study them closely and assess what your interviewer will be looking for.B However, people are actually not very good at assessing one another.C establish whether you are likely to do well in a particular job in a specific organization.D Although a favourable impression may be reversed later in the interview, a negative impression is rarely changed.E The most common is the structured interview.F The effectiveness of the interviewer can be improved by training.G For each of these areas the interviewers score candidates against how well they fit the job specification.

填空题The U. S. economy is growing most slowly, the U. S. Federal Reserve said on Wednesday in a report. Economic business activity in most districts is34. reported to be generally good and expanding moderately, in according to a35. survey of regional business conditions last week. But the survey found36. labour-market tightness and, in a few of regions, rift tightness appears to be37. broadly based. As a result, wage gains have been tended to outstrip price increases.38. The survey will be ruled by Federal Reserve policy-makers when they will meet39. next month to consider adjusting interest rates. 填空题Build a Team Creating the right team is imperative to your success. A team is comprised of people who can bring necessary skill sets to the venture. A team is different from partners. Partners are financially and legally tied to the venture while team members are brought in to create and continue the process. Team members can be employees or sub-contactors. These are people you can control—you get to pick them. You can use their services for as long as you like. If they don't work out as planned, you can find a different team member or you can find a place on the team where this person can be more effective. Creating the right environment for the team is equally important. (8) .Team members must have the same values as that of the venture and they must follow the same code of conduct consistent with your desired outcome. They must truly want the venture to be a success and feel that they are a part of that success, and they must work well with others. Differences are encouraged only if they are presented in a positive fashion, recognising the efforts of the others. (9) .This does not mean extra hours; it means working with heart and soul, working with the creative minds flowing, working with a positive mental attitude, and working together with the others so that all are winners. What ideas do you have that will create a positive, successful team? How can you create this team and have each person feel that they are as important a part of the success of the venture as you are? Study successful entities to find out how they treat their team members. Find out what motivates team members in successful entities to keep them successful—is it money, power, trust, fear, etc.? (10) . You should write out all the positions of your team and keep updating it as when you grow you will need to change out some positions on your team. This is a big mistake that people make as they grow. They keep the same team members that were effective when they were small and they do not re-evaluate the need for replacing members who have not grown to the levels where they are now needed. (11) .Just like upgrading your peer group, always be open to and active in upgrading your team members. If you are just starting out, then make your team as simple and complete as possible. Just be sure that your team members are able to excel and have knowledge in the industry and direction you are going in. (12) .If you find you are doing so, you have made a mistake and replace them right away.A.The last thing you want to do is to have to micromanage your team members.B.Your team members must be proactive to your needs and outcome.C.Each team member must give more than they are asked for in their areas of expertise.D.People will give their best when they feel that their services are being valued and that they are entrusted with producing a part of the success of the venture.E.Therefore, the overall team growth is limited by the lack of ability of one or more members.F.Thinking these things out before you create the team will help you in putting together the right team for your venture.
填空题The Crisis of Credit Here's the scary thing about the identity-theft ring that the feds cracked last week: there was nothing any of its estimated 40, 000 victims could have done to prevent it from happening. This was an inside job, according to court documents. A lowly help-desk worker at Teledata Communications, a software firm that helps banks access credit reports online, allegedly stole passwords for those reports and sold them to a group of 20 thieves at $ 60 a pop. (8) Cost to the victims: $ 3 million and rising. Even scarier is that this, the largest identity-theft bust to date, is just a drop in the bit bucket. More than 700,000 Americans have their credit hijacked every year. It's one of crime's biggest growth markets. A name, address and Social Security number — which can often be found on the Web — are all anybody needs to apply for a bogus line of credit. Credit companies make $ 1.3 trillion annually and lose less than 2% of that revenue to fraud. (9) As it stands now, it's up to you to protect your identity. The good news is that there are plenty of steps you can take. Most credit thieves are opportunists, not well-organized gangs. (10) Others steal wallets and return them, taking only a Social Security number. Shredding your junk mail and leaving your Social Security card at home can save a lot of agony later. But the most effective way to keep your identity clean is to check your credit reports once or twice a year. There are three major credit-report outfits: Equifax (equifax.com), Trans-Union (www.transunion.com) and Experian (experian.com). (11) Of the three, I found Trans Union's website to be the cheapest and most comprehensive- laying out state-by-state prices, rights and tips for consumers in easy-to-read fashion. If you're lucky enough to live in Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey or Vermont, you are entitled to one free report a year by law. (12) Avoid services that offer to monitor your reports year-round for about $ 70; that's $10 more than the going rate among thieves. If you think you're a victim of identity theft, you can ask for fraud alerts to be put on file at each of the three credit-report companies. You can also download a theft-report form at: www. consumer. gov/idtheft, which, along with a local police report, should help when irate creditors come knocking. Just don't expect justice. That audacious help-desk worker was one of the fewer than 2% of identity thieves who are ever caught. A. A lot of them go Dumpster diving for those millions of "pre-approved" credit-card mailings that go out every day. B. It used to get quite interesting around the dinner table. C. That allowed the gang to cherry-pick consumers with good credit and applies for all kinds of accounts in their names. D. So there's little financial incentive for them to make the application process more secure. E. All allow you to order reports online, which is a lot better than wading through voicemail hell on their 800 lines. F. Otherwise it's going to cost $8 to $14 each time. G. This was an inside job, according to court documents.
