The government does help pay for some medical care for people who are on low incomes and for old people, but most people buy insurance (保险) to help pay for medical care. The problem of those who cannot afford insurance is an important political subject. In Britain, when people are ill, they usually go to the family doctors first. However, people in America sometimes go straight to an expert without seeing their family doctors first. Children are usually taken to a doctor who is an expert in the treatment of children. In Britain, if a patient needs to see a specialist doctor, their family doctor will usually recommend a specialist. Doctors do not go to people's homes when they are ill. People always make appointments to see the doctor in the doctor's office. In a serious situation, people can call for an ambulance (救护车). In America, hospitals must treat all seriously sick patients, even if they do not have medical insurance. The government will then help pay for some of the cost of the medical care for them.

单选题A budget (预算) is a spending plan. It can help you spend money wisely. It can do this by cutting out wasteful spending. Of course, preparing a budget takes planning, and following a budget takes will power. Your budget should meet your family's needs and income. The first step in creating a budget is to set your goals. What does your family need and want? You must know this to work out the details of the budget. Keep goals realistic, in terms of income available. Then decide which goals are the most important. The next step is estimating family income. Before you can plan wisely, you need to know how much money you have to spend! Write down all the money you expect to receive (wages, savings, interest, etc.) during the planned budget period. After you have calculated how much money will be available, it is time to estimate expenses. List all of your family expenses. If you are not satisfied with what you got for your money, look carefully at your spending. Studying your records will show where overspending has occurred. It will also point out poor buying habits. It is also a good idea to set aside a small amount of money for emergencies. Every family has small emergencies: a blown tire, a broken device, or the need for minor medical care.

单选题Directions: After reading the following passage, you will find 5 unfinished statements or questions, number 36 through 40. For each statement there are four choices marked A, B, C and D, you should make the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center. Vitamin D is important to human nutrition (营养) because it helps the body to absorb calcium (钙). Calcium is essential for maintaining healthy bones and teeth. Vitamin D deficiency (缺乏症) often leads to serious bone diseases. For this reason it is added to the milk which is the staple food in most American people's diet. Our body requires sunlight to make use of vitamin D. Only when ultraviolet rays from the sun strike the vitamin D in our skin can the vitamin D be changed to its active form and calciferol be produced by the sunlight. Calciferol is the substance that carries the calcium to our bones. Therefore we can change vitamin D to its active form without exposing our body to ultraviolet rays. Nor can we make use of any of the calcium which we have consumed in our food. As a result, we will suffer from a calcium deficiency and have weak bones. People with a calcium deficiency, especially those who are over 40 years old, tend to break their arms or legs when they fall or trip over something. If we want to ensure sufficient vitamin D production in our body, we need to be exposed to sunlight for only 10 to 20 minutes every day. It is very easy for people to do unless in heavy smog or cloudy days. Doctors recommend that people either drink milk or take vitamin supplements or be exposed to the sun every day in order to avoid vitamin D deficiency.
