问答题A Proposal of Banning Cycling in the Student Center Recently, while strolling through the student center mall, I was struck and slightly injured by a bicycle rider. The center is a place for foot traffic, not bicyclists! I strongly urge the university administration to immediately forbid bike riding in this area. The number of pedestrians, the relatively narrow nature of the paths, and the speed of most bikers make a serious accident inevitable. Let me remind the university: they, along with the cyclists, are legally responsible for any injuries suffered by foot traffic. Alittle caution and common sense now can save the university hundreds of thousands of dollars. Additional staff must be hired to enforce this rule strictly and impartially. Question: The man expresses his opinion of the proposal to ban cycling in the student center. State his opinion and explain the reasons he gives for holding that opinion. Now hear a conversation between two students.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Emotional intelligence consists of self-awareness, self-control,
self-motivation, enthusiasm, and social ability. People with emotional
intelligence understand their feelings and manage them in ways that are positive
and helpful. They make decisions about life-- what job to pursue, what direction
to take, and whom to marry--with greater confidence and skill than people with
low or no emotional intelligence. Their people skills make them more likely to
succeed at relationships, cooperation, and leadership, and less likely to engage
in risky or criminal behavior. Now cover the passage and listen
to the lecture. You may take notes, and you may use your notes to help you
answer the question. After you hear the question, begin preparing your response.
You may look at the question, but NOT at the passage. You have 30 seconds to
prepare your response and 60 seconds to speak. Explain
emotional intelligence and how the examples given by the professor illustrate
the concept. For this task, you will read a short passage,
listen to a lecture on the same topic, and then speak in response to a question
about what you have read and heard. Do not look at the question until the
lecture has ended. Do not look at the reading passage while you are
speaking. Read the following information from a textbook.

问答题Assimilation and
Accommodation The term "assimilation" means: a
new idea is assimilated into knowledge similar to our existing knowledge. When
an object comes into one's sight for the first time, the information is
processed and assimilated into people's brains. Accommodation is another
approach applied by humans to process information. It is when people come across
new information, they accommodate in order to process this new data, expanding
their knowledge in the process. The difference between the two is simple: to
assimilate is to absorb new information into existing knowledge, to accommodate
is to receive new information by modifying or expanding our existing knowledge
base. Now hear a talk on the some subject The
professor takes an example to illustrate the difference between assimilation and
accommodation. Explain how the example relates to the reading passage.
