问答题It is no coincidence that the development of the relationship between our countries has accompanied a period of positive change. (1) China has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty-an accomplishment unparalleled in human history-while playing a larger role in global events. The United States has seen our economy improve along with the standard of living enjoyed by our people, while the Cold War was brought to a successful conclusion. (2) There is a Chinese proverb, "Consider the past, and you shall know the future." Surely, we have known setbacks and challenges over the last 30 years. Our relationship has not been without disagreement and difficulty. But the notion that we must be adversaries is not predestined-not when we consider the past. Indeed, because of our cooperation, both the United States and China are more prosperous and more secure. We have seen what is possible when we build upon our mutual interests, and engage on the basis of mutual respect. However, the success of that engagement depends upon understanding, on sustaining an open dialogue, and learning about one another and from one another. (3) Just as the American table tennis player, Forrest Gump, pointed out-we share much in common as human beings, but our countries are different in certain ways. I believe that each country must chart its own course. (4) China is an ancient nation, with a deeply rooted culture. The United States by comparison, is a young nation, whose culture is determined by the many different immigrants who have come to our shores, and by the founding documents that guide our democracy. In addition to your growing economy, we admire China's extraordinary commitment to science and research-a commitment borne out in everything from the infrastructure you build to the technology you use. China is now the world's largest Internet user-which is why we were so pleased to include the Internet as a part of today's event. This country, now has the world's largest mobile phone network, and it is investing in the new forms of energy that can both sustain growth and combat climate change. I'm looking forward to deepening the partnership between the United States and China in this critical area tomorrow. (5) However, above all, I see China's future in you-young people whose talent, dedication and dreams will do so much to help shape the 21st century.

问答题Basically, a robot is any machine that performs work or other actions normally done by humans. Most robots are used in factories to make products such as cars and electronics. Others are used to explore underwater, in volcanoes and even on other planets. Robots consist of three main components: a brain, which is usually a computer; actuators and mechanical parts such as motors, wheels and gears; and sensors for detecting images, sound, temperature, motion and light. With these basic components, robots can interact with their environment and perform the tasks they are designed to carry out.

问答题Translate the following sentences into English.Remember to write your answer on the answer sheet.

The symbolic importance of the burger cannot be underestimated. 1 Under its beefburger guise, it was the first of the new range of "convenience" foods which were about to make the world a better place and begin the liberation of women from the drudgery of home-cooking and housework. The older generation did not approve, which made it all the better. In the Sixties the hamburger was a symbol of the techno age-perfectly circular and streamlined. It was as uniform and relentlessly predictable as only the latest technology could make it. 2 True, there were those who rebelled against it, but to most the hamburger was a reflection of the national love affair with Americana(美国文化). It was a phenomenon which was made fresh in Seventies London with the trendy burgers of the Great American Disaster and the Hard Rock Café, and in many other cities round the world. In the Eighties another subtle shift occurred. People became aware that America was no longer another place but a culture which had spread throughout the world. And the hamburger became globalized, too, in the form of McDonald"s. With its US home market, like the fat in its burgers, heavily saturated, McDonald"s looked abroad. 3 By the end of the Eighties it had grown to such a size that every day 28 million global citizens ate there and the Big Mac became omnipresent. 4 McDonald"s stormed the world, but its successes also drew upon it in the Nineties the criticisms which were leveled at that era. 5 Food experts began to see the world"s changing culinary(烹调的) tastes as a symbol of what is wrong with the new consumerism. "The hamburger is a metaphor for our times-cheap, convenient and an indication that we have given up any real interest in what we eat," said the leading food writer Frances Bissell, lamenting the trends of our increasingly obese society towards snacking on the hoof or before the TV instead of eating proper meals. Then along came "Mad Cow Disease" and even though the average person was told they had more chance of winning the National Lottery than contracting "Mad Person Disease", with it came the dreadful realization that the cheap, convenient, easy way out might, in the end, turn out to be none of these things.

问答题Christmas is the time for self-indulgence: huge quantities of sweets and chocolates are consumed and it is a time for heavy drinking. Many people deplore what they consider the over-commercialization of a sacred holiday, but, underneath all the business activity, a great steal of genuine Christmas spirit is to be found. The custom of giving presents to one"s family and friends is a very pleasant one so long as one remembers that it is the spirit behind the gift which matters most and not the gift itself.
