摘要
意识给我们带来了一系列理智上的挑战,比如本体论问题、解释问题和功能问题。近来提出的注意图式理论(AST)可以很好地回答上述问题。根据AST,意识是神经系统在不断改进信号处理方式的过程中进化出来的用以控制注意的建构物,即注意图式。这是一个丹尼特式的错觉理论,如果成立的话,不但可以消除"难问题"和"解释鸿沟"等难题,而且可以很好地说明意识的功能问题。不过,AST尚待进一步完善,其中的注意图式的信息内容和自我概念,需要更为详细的说明。
Consciousness poses a series of challenging problems for us.Recently,a new theory dubbed the Attention Schema Theory(AST)has been proposed to answer the ontological,the explanatory and the functional problem of consciousness.According to AST,consciousness is a construct by nerve systems to control attentions,that is,attention schema.Attention schema has been evolving during the long process in which nerve systems try to improve their ways of processing information.AST is a kind of Dennettian illusionism.If it is right,then not only the functional problem is well explained,but also the so called"hard problem"and the explanatory gap problem can be dissolved.Nevertheless,AST needs further development.The information content of attention schema and the concept of self need to be fully specified.
