摘要
明清时期,中央政府除通过运河转输漕粮外,还大量从南方各地运输其他物资,其中木材为大宗。营建皇宫园囿,修筑楼阁殿堂,所需木材大都来自南方各地,这些木材被统称作皇木。装载皇木的船筏出长江入运河,经里河、中河、会通河、卫河(南运河)、潞河(北运河),到达通州入场,然后根据需求陆运北京。运输皇木的船筏挤占了运河河道,影响了漕船及其他船只正常通行。押运皇木的官员沿途征发夫役,勒索钱物,扰乱了运河交通秩序,加重了沿线农民的负担。
During the Ming and Qing dynasties,the central government not only transported grain through the canal,but also transported a large number of other materials from all over the south,among which woods were the bulk.Most of the woods needed for the construction of palaces,gardens and pavilions were came from all over the south,and these woods are collectively known as royal wood.The raft loaded with royal wood leaved the Yangtze River and entered the canal,passed through the Li River,the Zhong River,the Huitong River,the Wei River(South Canal),and the Lu River(North Canal),arrived at Tongzhou for admission,and then transported to Beijing by land according to demand.The raft transporting the royal wood crowded the canal,affected the normal passage of canal boats and other vessels.The officials who escorted the royal wood extorted money and goods,disrupted the order of the canal traffic and increased the burden of farmers along the canal.
