摘要
本文从社会建构主义身份观出发,结合语篇-历史分析法,借助语料库工具Wmatrix分别从宏观主题、中观沟通策略及微观语言特征三个层面对比了中美银行企业概况中身份话语建构的共性及个性。研究发现,中国企业突出发展历程、行业排名、组织架构等主题;侧重企业能力沟通策略,借助数量标记语、高级形容词凸显企业雄厚实力,积极建构行业领导者身份;而美国企业强调员工关怀、社区服务及环境保护等,倾向企业社会责任沟通策略,多使用积极施为类动词呈现企业具体活动,建构社会贡献者身份。本研究对提升中国企业国际话语建构能力具有参考价值,同时对商务英语教学具有指导意义。
Taking the perspective of Social Constructivism and Discourse-Historical Approach,and using the corpus linguistic tool Wmatrix,this study compares the discursive strategies adopted by Chinese and American banks in their construction of corporate identities.The research underlines the shared and unique features presented in prominent themes,communication strategies and lexical patterns.It is found that Chinese banks prefer to emphasize their historical development,industrial ranking and organizational structure to positively construct the identity of industry leaders,adopting the corporate ability strategy through frequent usage of numbers and superlative adjectives.However,American banks tend to stress their care for the employees,communities and environment.Corporate responsibility strategy is preferred to build the identity of social contributors through frequent usage of performative verbs to exhibit specific corporate activities.This study may provide practical implications for Chinese companies to improve their capability of international communication and may offer educational implications for Business English teaching.
