The present study focuses on the pragmatic reverse transfer of Chinese Japanese learners,in particular the request behavior in email writing. The reverse.transfer phenomena were observed in Chinese emails written by Chinese Japanese learners. The results show that Chinese Japanese learners tend to use more negative polite strategies, such as“consideration”,“apology”and“indirect request”than native Chinese speakers. In addition,Chinese Japanese learners spent more attention on hierarchical relationships while writing Japanese emails, which indicates that they can adjust their language to different social contexts.
