摘要
时间旅行是可能的,也是奇怪的。反对者热衷于将时间旅行的古怪之处总结为各种悖论,以挑战时间旅行的可能性。为捍卫时间旅行的可能性,大卫·刘易斯(David Lewis)对三种常见的时间旅行悖论作了回应,它们分别是时间差异悖论、因果循环悖论与祖父悖论。本文的第二节至第四节将依次对这三个时间旅行悖论展开讨论,除了阐述刘易斯本人的解决方案外,还将对晚近一些学者的不同意见进行辨析。总之,这些悖论大多源自对时间旅行的误解,只要对这些误解加以澄清,它们便能得到解决,时间旅行的可能性也由此得到捍卫。
Time travel is possible but strange.Opponents are keen to summarize the quirks of time travel into various paradoxes to challenge the possibilities of time travel.To defend the possibility of time travel,David Lewis responded to three common paradoxes of time travel:The paradox of time discrepancy,the paradox of causal loops,and the grandfather paradox.In the second to fourth sections of this article,we will discuss these three time travel paradoxes in sequence.In addition to elaborating on Lewis'own solutions,we will also analyze the different opinions of some scholars in recent times.In short,most of these paradoxes stem from misunderstandings about time travel.Once these misunderstandings are clarified,they can be resolved and the possibility of time travel can be defended.
