New Realism has surfaced in the context of contemporary Russia's free and diverse cultural landscape, with the aim of revitalizing the critical spirit and pursuit of meaning inberent in traditional realist poetics. This literary movement draws upon the principles of Realism while integrating a spectrum of avant-garde techniques, including Postmodernism, thereby crafting a composite literary posture.Sergey Shargunov,an eminent figure in Russian New Realism,in his novella“Ura!”demonstrates the creative philosophy and aesthetic traits of New Realism.Employing an autobiographical narrative approach, the novel's author, narrator, and protagonist share a single name, aligning the narrator and protagonist's“I”closely with the author's own persona, rendering the exploration of the author's image within the novel substantially meaningful.Utilizing Vinogradov's“image of the author”theory, this paper analyzes the rhetorical characteristics of the various narrative layers in“Ura!”,with the intent to disclose the author's unique artistic style and to enrich the reader's understanding and appreciation of Russian New Realism fiction.
