摘要
外壳名词的广泛使用是学术语篇的重要特征。以往文献主要依据Schmid(2000)提出的构式框架开展研究,却较少关注框架之外的动词与外壳名词之间的搭配规律。本研究利用聚类分析和多项特异共现词位分析对497篇英语学术论文中的"动词+外壳名词"组合进行统计分析,并借助"事件域认知模型"分析两者的搭配机制。结果表明,外壳名词体现出不同的动词搭配倾向,两者之间的语义关联反映了科学研究事件域中的基本要素。外壳名词与动词的搭配规律可以为学术英语教学提供借鉴与启示。
Shell nouns are widely used in academic discourse.Previous studies have tended to account for the set of patterns proposed by Schmid(2000),with scant attention given to the lexical verbs that collocate with the shell nouns.This study statistically examined the"lexical-verb+shellnoun"collocations in 497 English academic papers with cluster analysis and multiple distinctive collexeme analysis,and explored the collocation mechanism with the Event-Domain Cognitive Model.The different"lexical-verb+shell-noun"collocation tendencies found as the result of the investigation indicates that the semantic association between lexical-verbs and shell nouns reflects the basic cognitive mechanisms in the event domain of scientific research.The research findings can provide implications for the teaching of academic English.
