For Chinese culture to go global,Chinese-foreign co-translation is a model advocated by many scholars, but there is little discussion about who should dominate the cooperation.Comparing the verb translations in The New Year’s Sacrifice by Yang Hsien-yi and Gladys Yang, with those in I Did Not Kill My Husband by Howard Goldblatt and Li-chun Lin,this paper finds that the co-translation led by Yang Hsien-yi is linguistically closer to Chinese, while the co-translation led by Howard Goldblatt closer to English. This finding provides a reference for Chinese literary translators to seek a model to promote Chinese culture abroad.
