摘要
学习能力是英语学科的核心素养之一,它与学生的英语成绩显著正相关。学习能力不足是制约部分高中生学科能力提升的主要因素。文章以杭州天目外国语学校2020级和2021级学生为对象,研究了小班化教学对学生英语成绩的影响。结果表明,采用小班化教学3个学期后,2020级小班化教学班级英语成绩从比普通班低0.33个标准差,到高出0.36个标准差;采用小班化教学1个学期后,2021级小班化教学班级和普通班级成绩差距显著缩小,从0.96个标准差缩小到0.58个标准差。进一步研究发现,小班化班级学生的英语听力、阅读和写作成绩分别比普通班提高了6.2%、10.6%和5.2%。这些结果表明采用小班化教学,学生英语学习能力显著提升;小班化教学效果受到学生性别影响,女生分数提升效果较男生更为明显。
As one important part of core competencies of English subject,learning ability is positively associated with student’s English achievement.Deficiency of learning ability constitutes a restrictive factor in improving subject abilities of some high school students.This paper studies the teaching effects small-class on students’English achievements,taking students of Grade 2020 and 2021 from Hangzhou Tianmu Foreign Language School as subjects.The results show that after 3 terms of small-class teaching,the English score of Grade 2020 increases from 0.33 standard deviations lower than that of regular classes to 0.36 standard deviations higher than that of regular classes;after 1 term of small-class teaching,the achievement gap between small-class and regular class students of Grade 2021 decreases from 0.96 to 0.58 in standard deviation.Further study suggests that the achievements of English listening,reading and writing of small-class students increase by 6.2%,10.6%and 5.2%respectively compared with that of regular class students.These indicate that students’English learning abilities can be improved substantially using small-class teaching;Small-class teaching effect is affected by students’gender:female students benefit more than that of the male students.
