摘要
进步主义是美国最为重要的教育思潮,对20世纪美国教育的理论思考和实践探索及其变迁轨迹都产生了极为深刻的影响。关于进步主义教育的研究成果非常丰富,但是歧见颇多。尽管进步主义教育作为一种思潮、一个运动具有极大的多样性和复杂性,但梳理百余年进步主义教育概念史,对各个时期出现的各种界定进行划分和辨析可以发现,进步主义教育的本质在于强调教育应该以儿童作为出发点,以儿童的整体发展为目的。进步主义教育是一种"儿童在中心"而非"儿童是中心"的教育观念,由此改变了教育思考和实践的方向,深刻影响了20世纪美国教育演变的轨迹,成为20世纪世界教育的重要遗产。
Progressivism,the most important educational thought across the United States,exerted a profound influence on the theoretical and practical explorations of American education in the 20 th century.There are fruitful research outcomes about progressive education,along with plenty of disputes over it.Based on the discrimination between the definitions in different stages over the past century,progressive education,a diversified and complicated thought and a movement,was in essence an educational concept that"children were at the center"rather than that"children themselves were the center."This stressed that education should start with children and aim at their all-round development.It changed the direction of educational thinking and practice,deeply influenced the development of American education in the 20 th century,and became an important educational heritage worldwide at that time.
