Since the Meiji Restoration in Japan,in order to modernize,Japan has learned a lot from Germany in politics, academics, military, and many other fields. This has since become a good tradition.Christian thought is no exception. In the early 1930 s,Karl Barth’s thought was introduced to Japan through"Dialectical Theology"and was well received by Japanese readers.Among these readers, there were not only Christian theologians and Western philosophers, but also religious philosophers who were engaged in Buddhist studies.Among them are the famous founder of the Kyoto School, religious philosopher Kitaro Nishida and theologian Katsumi Takizawa. This article through the analysis of the thinking of Nishida and Takizawa,as well as the comparison with Barth’s thought, surveys the ideological connection between Nishida Kitaro,Takizawa Katsumi and Karl Barth.
