摘要
林纾译作《伊索寓言》是一部儿童文学作品,其中41个故事配有插图。插图可以被认为是一种符际翻译。依据图文关系的研究成果,构建符际翻译方法分析模式,探究林纾译作《伊索寓言》中的符际翻译方法,结果发现,多数插图只传递了文字故事的部分意义,但是在插图中增添了一些文字描述欠缺的内容。从符际翻译视角看,插图译文为文字故事原文扩大了读者群,并为其增添了新的生命力。
Aesop’s Fables is a children’s literary work translated by Lin Shu.In this book,there are 41 fables accompanying illustrations.It is argued that illustrations can be regarded as a kind of inter-semiotic translation.Based on the findings on image-text relation,an analytic framework of inter-semiotic translation methods is established.Then the framework is provided with the inter-semiotic translation methods in Aesop’s Fables by Lin Shu.It is found that most of the illustrations only convey partial meanings in words,but some information,which is lacked in words,is shown in illustrations.The illustrations add vitality to the words so as to enlarge the readership of the book.
