The traditional role of translator is identified as one of "servant", whereas "treason" has become an unavoidable, essential feature of translation. Pulled between the two poles: fidelity and treason, the translator faces the dilemma of lacking independence. While trying to expound the concept of "creative treason", this article attempts to present the subjectivity of translation and to provide a theoretical framework for its construction.
