Subsurface brines in deep-seated aquifers(including K-rich brines) are valuable liquid mineral resources.Subsurface brines in deep-seated aquifers in sedimentary basins occur under the deeply buried and sealed state and are of high pressure. The subsurface brines are stored in brine-bearing formations and enriched in brine-bearing structures. The subsurface brines do not have recharge resources and are of no recoverability and renewability. The brine resources have relatively large storage resources and are not regulative. The exploitation resources of the subsurface brines in deep-seated aquifers are transferred from the storage resources. The storage resources decrease and tend to exhaust under the condition of exploitation of the brines. The storage resources of the subsurface brines in deep-seated aquifers can be regarded as natural(storage) resources(or perspective resources,or potential resources). Those of the storage resources, which can be withdrawn under certain exploitable conditions, are called exploitable resources, and the remainders are non-exploitable resources. The exploitable resources include the exploited resources, which have been withdrawn, and the residual exploited resources, which have not been withdrawn. The natural(storage) resources of the subsurface brines are also classified as elastic storage resources and non-elastic storage resources. The subsurface brine resources in deep-seated aquifers can still be classified as resources of three levels of a basin(regional),a brine-bearing structure(local) and a single well.
