由于重庆战时战略地位的提高，日本侵华战争战略的调整，重庆成为日本侵略者主要的轰炸目标。日本侵略者长达5年的残酷大轰炸，给重庆人民造成了重大的人员伤亡与财产损失。重庆人民进行了英勇的反轰炸斗争。重庆大轰炸的历史既是日本法西斯侵华暴行的血腥罪证，也是中国人民反侵略的典范，具有深远的资源价值。
Due to its important strategic position, in the War of Resistance against Japan, Chongqing inevitably became the major target of Japanese air raids. During the five-year bombing, the people in Chongqing put up a heroic struggle but suffered heavy casualties and damages. The bombing is of great historical value in that it is the evidence of the Chinese people's resolute resistance and Japanese invaders' bloody crimes.
