Abstract Remarkable progress has been made in Beijing's tourism industry after twenty years' development.Recently,howe ver,Beijing has seen a conspicuous trend of slow development.This is a very rigorous challenge.To foster the new development of Beijing's tourism in the next century,Beijing Tourism Administration and Beijing Tourism Group held a large scale research conference with the participation of 120 people in Beijing in August,1998.Personages in tourism circle,experts and scholars and government officials both at home and abroad held conscientious discussions on the development of Beijing's tourism industry in the 21st century.Our correspondent,in this article,selects the abstracts of over thirty people present at the conference about their main and unique viewpoints,from which we can understand the lines of thought on the development of Beijing's tourism industry in the early 21st century.
