摘要
我国的英语课本,由中学到各类大学,大多只注意单音与升降调的反复训练。学生老是抱怨洋人说话“太含糊、太快”,尽管人家发音清楚、速度也适中。问题实是音节计时与重音计时的节律不同总是被教学忽视所引起的。建议课本增加节律训练这一重要内容(须精心设计),是我们从这篇文章得到的启示,不知专家学者特别是教师们以为然否?
This experiment shows that the number of fluctuations in English is determined by the prominence while that in a Chinese utterance by the tones of the syllables. The fact that notevery syllable is stressed by a native speakr of English in natural speech while every syllablehas a tone in Chinese results in the greater number of fluctuations in the latter. This explainsto some extent English learners' problems in speaking and listening comprehension. The presentwriter, therefore, makes a plea for greater attention to the training of rhythm in English pro-nunciation teaching which is very important in improving srudents' fluency in speaking En-glish as well as their proficiency in listening comprehension.
