摘要 一、理论根据、目标和方法(一)理论根据“语言三层次的假说”和“外语教学三阶段论”是以修辞为中心进行高年级精读课教学的理论根据。我们则根据“语言是巨系统”的观点, The paper consists of two parts. The firstpart argues that the aim of teaching in-tensive reading to senior students is to cultiv-ate their ability to make systematic rhetoricalanalysis of literature. Such an aim reflects thehypothesis of three levels of language and thetheory of three stages in foreign language tea-ching. This is intened to foster the students'metaphorical and logical thinking. An anticipatedoutcome of this approach is an increase in thestudents' capabilities to do philological researchwhich combines linguistic analysis with literarycomment. The second part of the paper is asample of such a systematic rhetorical analy-sis.
