摘要
英语名词词组可以在语篇中作为指称项反指或预指一个语段,构成指称链,成为组篇的一个重要手段。确定名词词组的指称语段必须通过推理。名词词组与其指称语段之间的语义关系十分复杂。名词词组用于指称语段时可以在语篇的不同结构层次上发挥语篇功能:在一种基本结构中名词词组常用以概括上文并加以评价;在段落中可起承上启下的作用;在语篇中反指名词短语可以成为段落新信息或宏观新信息的一部分,预指名词短语则可成为段落主位或宏观主位的一部分。
When a phoric element is realized as a nominal group it may presume as its referent an identifiable portion of a text. The text reference of nominal groups is an important resource for the texture and structure of discourse. As a portion of text may admit of different meanings and the nominal group can only refer to one of the semantic aspects of the presumed passage, it is necessary to make inference to identify the passage as referent and the aspect of meaning referred to.
