It is well-documented that digenetic trematodes exhibit complex life cycles where the definitive hosts are vertebrates—mostly birds,other mammals and reptiles.It is also known that digenetic trematodes are host specific,but changes in our feeding habits, agricultural and social practices,have led to human beings infected with parasites that were previously regarded to be of no or insignificant medical importance.
