摘要
都市化改变了人们的生活方式和生活观念。本文通过研究美国作家德莱塞的《嘉莉妹妹》,从价值观念的角度来分析都市生活的真正含义,着重分析了都市的五个特征:都市的庞大拥挤与个人的微不足道、都市的开放与幻觉、都市的声色享乐、都市造成的道德的模棱两可、都市生活只属于特定的人群,以此揭示都市生活的本质和所存在的问题。
Our thoughts and lives have changed greatly with the progress of urbanization. This paper analyses Theodore Dreiser's Sister Carrie in detail to illustrate the real value and meaning of urban life.Five aspects are discussed to reveal the essence of urban life and its maladies:First,the sharp contrast between the over-sized and crowded metropolis and the insignificant individule; Second,the contradictory illusion between the fair and open urban appearance and the unequal hierarchy in essence;Third,the metropolitan consumerism; Fourth,the metropolitan moral ambiguity resulted in fast-changing urban life; Fifth,the privileged rich and the marginalized poor.
